Geoffrey’s son Roger joins the business and GD Lines was renamed GD Lines & Son.

The demand for timber surpassed fencing so Bedford Timber Supplies Ltd was launched.

Geoffrey Lines established GD Lines in Cauldwell Walk, Bedford to sell kindling & wood products.

1979

The first re-saw was installed to machine timber into fence panels, garden sheds & gates.

Today we continue his ambitions to supply and deliver expertise to all that walk through our door with his son Roger directing the company alongside his sister June and their partners, as well as his 3 sons and 2 grandchildren who all contribute to the company in a variety of key roles throughout the business with the help of excellent co-workers across both our depots.

Our Ethics

As a timber company we recognise our duty to conducting our operations in an ethical and responsible manner. We are proud to say that Bedford Timber Supplies is 96% recyclable with all of our steel banding, cardboard, plastics and paper being recycled, minimising our waste and impact on the environment. Additionally, almost all our timber is sourced from sustainably managed forests ensuring the longevity and protection of these vital ecosystems. By implementing sustainable practices, we aim to create a better future for both our industry and the planet.

Our Fleet

Across both our depots we have the following vehicles available to us:

  • 3 x 26-ton HIAB Lorry
  • 1 x 18-ton HIAB Lorries
  • 3 x 7.5-ton HIAB Narrow Lorries (2.5m width) for access to smaller driveways
  • 4 x 3.5-ton Vans

We regularly deliver to Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, Suffolk, and London. Our usual delivery radius is 100 miles from each depot, but we can accommodate deliveries beyond these areas upon request.
