Bedford Timber Supplies stock large volumes of planed joinery softwoods, principally from Scandinavia with a selected range from Europe. These, high-quality, slow-grown timbers are ideal for planing and machining for which they house a vast number of end uses’.
Take a look at the table below to see the various planed timber we regularly stock.
Planed Timber Quality:-
Unsorted: This is the best quality joinery timber where the lower grades have been removed (sorted). Unsorted joinery is mainly used where the visible finish is of paramount importance. Unsorted joinery has a, low knot content, straight grain and a smooth finish.
5th Grade: this is the next grade, a more multi-purpose grade, which has a huge variety of uses’, the bulk of Bedford Timber Supplies PSE and mouldings are machined from 5th Grade. 5th Grade is typically used for cladding, flooring, skirting, architraves, dado rail and many others. 5th Grade joinery still maintains the smooth finish of unsorted but has a slightly higher knot content.
Whitewood Grade: This is the lowest grade in planed timber that Bedford Timber Supplies stock. Where wider than 220mm is needed, whitewood is one option. Suitable for stair strings, treads and making of book cases, Whitewood is prone to larger knots and surface splits.
