Sometimes what is available and what you need doesn’t always line up. That’s why we provide the option to send timber, whether it be from the shelf or something machined to your requirements, to be pressure-treated in numerous ways.
Green & Brown Treatment
Our most popular treatment service. Green-treated timber features a green tint from the copper preservative mix whereas brown-treated timber adds a brown dye for a more ‘natural’ appearance.
The Advantages
- Increased durability – less likely to rot, warp or be infested by insects
- Extends the timber life – protects against the elements and exposure to moisture
- Low maintenance
- Safe – the chemicals used ensure the timber is safe for children and animals.
VAC-VAC (Clear)
Another pressure treatment we offer is VAC-VAC, which uses a double vacuum to remove air from timber cavities and impregnate them with VACSOL solution. A second vacuum then removes excess preservative, hence the name VAC-VAC.
The Advantages
- Long term protection – can protect against fungal & insect attacks
- Vitually unchanged appearance
- Can be treated for a desired service life e.g. 30 or 60 years
- Treatment does not significantly change the timber dimensions or moisture content
Fire Retardant
Fire retardant treatment involves adding chemicals or a coating to timber to reduce its ignitability and make it safer in the event of a fire.
The Advantages
- Reduces the spread of flames and consequently the amount of smoke
- Increases the time residents have to safely exit the building
- Could help to reduce damage costs
- Can make materials self-extinguishing
