Sustainability is extremely important to us here at Bedford Timber, especially when it comes to our forest-based products.

That is why we are FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) Chain of Custody certified. But what exactly does that mean?

Well, The Forest Stewardship Council is an international, non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world’s forests. Since its foundation in 1994, FSC has grown to become the world’s most respected and widespread forest certification system.

FSC’s pioneering certification system, which now covers more than 200 million hectares of forest, enables businesses and consumers to choose wood, paper and other forest products made with materials that support responsible forestry.

How do they do this? Bedford Timber Supplies Bedford Manager, Gavin Lines, explains: “As a Chain of custody certificate holder, you are required to implement and maintain a chain of custody management system which continuously meets the certification requirements.

“FSC certification is the sustainable choice. It means, as a company, we are assured to deliver better outcomes for forests, people and markets – today and for future generations

“FSC certificate holders, like Bedford Timber, help to ensure forests remain there for everyone to enjoy, forever.”
